BIBLES HEADED TO AFRICA: How two Marines helped make it happen

Two Marines drove from MN to KY and then MI to get these Bibles where they needed to go.

Pat, a member of our Streams of Living Water team, recently saw a story aired by our Mission Network News radio ministry. The broadcast highlighted Mission Cry, an organization in Michigan that collects used Bibles and Christian books and ships them overseas.

Pat eagerly contacted Mission Cry. Would they consider sending a 20-foot container of Bibles to propel Streams' church planting work in South Sudan? Yes, they would!

As the word got out, many individuals donated used Bibles to the cause. Parkside Church in Ohio was among many partners who stepped up in a huge way. Another ministry in Kentucky (cravethemovement.com) had boxes of new Bibles to contribute, but the cost of shipping them to Mission Cry in Michigan was daunting.

Two MarinChes (both wounded in Afghanistan) heard about the need and stepped up. One called the other and said, "Brother, we got another mission. We’re going to go get these [Bibles and] drive them to Michigan so that they can get on a container and go to South Sudan." The duo proceeded to drive from Minnesota to Kentucky, and then up to Michigan to deliver those Bibles!

A Mission Cry staff member thanks the Marines for their outstanding help.

Those Bibles, plus thousands of other Bibles and Christian books, are now on their way to Africa. Please pray with us for their safe arrival and for much fruit to come as Streams of Living Waters workers distribute God's Word and plant churches among the unreached.

Lord, we thank You for moving these two men and many others in the Body of Christ to get Your Word to hungry souls in South Sudan. May these Bibles and other Christian books arrive safely at their destination and be a treasured blessing to those who receive them. We trust that Your Word will not return empty, but will accomplish what You desire and achieve the purpose for which You sent it (Is 55:11). In Jesus's name, Amen

Streams currently has 30 church planters in South Sudan and 67 in Sudan and Chad. To help sustain these workers and send more like them, give a gift to Streams today.
