In a world where success is often measured by budgets and resources, Paola Guerra’s story with OneWay’s Heart Bible for the Nations has told a different story. Faced with limited finances but driven by unshakable faith, Guerra has relied on prayer and divine guidance to help grow a small movement into a ministry reaching across Latin America and beyond.
As the leader of a ministry for women and children in Guatemala, Guerra prayed for a tool to strengthen the leaders, families and children she served. The Spirit’s response was clear: "Paola, pray and fast. What you need will come to the door."
Soon after, the director of a missionary network called, asking if she could host a guest at their ministry center. Guerra said, “Give me a moment." Then she prayed.
“To me, it’s crucial to obey the Spirit, even if people might think I’m crazy,” Guerra says. The Spirit reassured her: "It will come to the door, don’t worry. Receive him.”
The guest, OneWay’s Equipping Evangelist, introduced Paola to a training program that equips leaders through Bible stories. When he mentioned the program’s first module, “The Door,” Paola’s heart leapt. Guerra was struck by the significance of the moment, and she immediately arranged for her ministry team to receive the training.
“My previous corporate experience in training and teamwork helped me spot issues,” Guerra says. “I told the pastor, "I can help you refine this."
From that moment, Guerra became deeply involved in Heart Bible for the Nations, watching it transform lives — not just in Guatemala but across Latin America and beyond. She sees how internalizing Bible stories helps people live out their faith:
“The Spirit uses stories to reveal truth and bring change,” Guerra says. “It’s not just about reading the Bible; it’s about living it.”
In just 18 months, the program expanded into seven countries, transforming lives through Bible storytelling. Even with challenges, Paola remains confident: “The lack of money isn’t the problem; having the right people is. Through prayer, the right people always arrive.”
As their team grows and requests for training pour in from other countries, Paola and the Heart Bible team pray for wisdom about where to go next. Will you join them as they pray?
