Aviation major becomes prayer champion

“God has been using me in a marvelous way,” Mary says.

“It’s not only about us because our first purpose for being created is to work for God,” said administration intern Mary Quaye about being at OneWay. “I believe that coming here has given me that peace I need.”

Mary grew up in Accra, Ghana. She has worked in ministry for as long as she can remember, whether it was non-profit administration or singing at her church. But ever since she came to the U.S. to get her Master’s degree in aviation, she has felt a lack of opportunities to serve God.

“I'm so grateful God gave me the opportunity [to serve at one way] for someone who has an aviation background. God has been using me in a marvelous way that I didn't think of,” she says.

To Mary, evangelism is so much broader than just telling people about Jesus. First, you have to allow your heart to be broken by the brokenness of the world and wring your heart out in passionate prayer for it. Missions begin when the church prays. “Each one of us has to play our part to let the gospel reach people,” Mary says.

For her part, Mary works on the administrative side of the Prayercast team. She collects data, adds meta tags to videos, creates prayer transcript files, and analyzes statistics of prayer videos. All of this allows the team to evaluate prayer needs and respond with new videos.

Mary describes the impact Oneway has had on her:

“People haven’t heard about Christ because they grew up Muslim or in a certain type of religious community where that is all they know. And this is really heartbreaking. I believe I wouldn’t have known this if I didn’t come here.”

As the summer comes to a close, join us in prayer and support for interns like Mary!
