You make it possible to reach people.

SMARTER WAYS TO GIVE

Fuel life-changing ministry with creative giving. Whether through a recurring donation, year-end gift, or planned giving, your generosity helps OneWay Ministries reach more lives for Christ.

Planned gifts offer smart and flexible ways to support this work while benefiting your family as well. By exploring these creative, cost-effective options, you can multiply the impact of your giving and help reach multitudes for years to come. Together, we can make an eternal difference.

Your Employer’s Matching Gift Program

If your employer offers a matching gift program, you can potentially increase the value of your donation to OneWay Ministries. Many companies match their employees’ charitable contributions, and in some cases, they may even match donations from spouses or retirees.

To find out if your employer participates, check with your human resources or personnel department. They can provide details on the specific criteria and procedures, which vary by employer. You may need to fill out a form or follow a process after submitting your gift to OneWay Ministries.

Some companies even offer generous matches, such as a 2-to-1 ratio, doubling or tripling the impact of your contribution!

Giving Stock, Real Estate or Other Assets

You may be able to increase your potential impact –and reduce your taxes – by giving non-cash assets.

Examples of non-cash assets:

• Stock or marketable securities

• Real estate

• Business interests

• Farm commodities

• Tangible personal property

Giving directly to OneWay Ministries allows you to receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the asset and avoid capital gains taxes—even if you don’t itemize deductions.

Gifts From Your IRA

If you're 70½ or older, donating from your IRA is one of the most tax-efficient ways to support OneWay Ministries. These gifts, known as Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while reducing your taxable income.

Even if you're not yet required to take an RMD, once you reach 70½, you can still make a QCD that isn’t tied to an RMD. It’s a smart way to give to a charity without paying taxes on the withdrawal.

Gifts in a Will

By including charitable giving in your will, you model to your loved ones a legacy of generosity. You also help ensure that OneWay or other ministries you support continue to make a difference well beyond your lifetime.

Benefits of Gifts in a Will

  • Legacy: Extend the impact of your generosity well beyond your lifetime.

  • Availability: Retain access to your God-given resources for the remainder of your lifetime, or for as long as you need them.

  • Capacity: You can potentially make the largest gift you’ll ever have the ability to give.

Beat the Year-End Rush - Timing is Everything

December is a busy time for everyone, including the post office, financial advisors, and us. To ensure your gift is processed by year-end:

  • Cash gifts must be postmarked or delivered by December 31.

  • Non-cash assets (like stock or real estate) must be transferred by December 31.

  • IRA account checks must be received and processed by December 31 to count toward your required minimum distribution. Unlike other checks (including those sent directly from your IRA administrator) it is NOT enough that personal IRA checks are postmarked or even hand-delivered by December 31.

  • Gifts to a donor-advised fund need to be transferred by December 31.

Communication is key! Call ahead for smooth asset transfers and notify us of IRA gifts to ensure timely processing.

ONEWAY PARTNER

A friend shared a great tip with us: Since we are over 70 ½, we could direct all our giving to God’s work using pre-tax dollars from our IRA, as long as the contributions went straight from the IRA to the ministries we support.

This can both lower our taxable income and satisfy our required minimum distribution. It’s been a wonderful way to maximize our retirement funds while furthering God’s kingdom.
